Blake Carrington was Called Home a week ago. Blake, 'The Carringtons' & 'The Dynasty' was a part of my Childhood, i never missed a single episode! I can't control my emotions right now, Blake Carrington was the Classiest Man with such Charisma that i've yet to see in any man or actor in my life!
My Love & Kisses To You John Forsythe...
Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him O Lord & Let Your Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him, May His Soul Rest In Peace, Amen.
John Forsythe, the actor who played the smooth, silver-haired oil tycoon Blake Carrington in the television series Dynasty, has died after a long battle with cancer.
Forsythe, 92, died at his home in Santa Ynez, California, on Thursday after suffering a bout of pneumonia. He was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2006.
"He died as he lived his life, with dignity and grace," said his daughter, Brooke.
Rare among Hollywood actors, Forsythe, who also provided the voice of the unseen Charlie in the TV series Charlie's Angels, was famously self-effacing and unegotistical.
He described himself as a "vastly useable, not wildly talented actor", once observing: "I figure there are a few actors like Marlon Brando, George C Scott and Laurence Olivier who have been touched by the hand of God. I'm in the next bunch."
Despite having a theatre and film career that began in the 1940s and took in the Hitchcock films The Trouble With Harry and Topaz, he was best known for his starring role in the 1980s soap opera Dynasty.
As patriarch of the rich but wildly dysfunctional Carrington family, his character's ruthless ambition was habitually eclipsed by that of his scheming ex-wife, Alexis Colby, played by Joan Collins.
The tanned, beautifully-coiffed Forsythe became a major draw with female viewers, a fact that apparently surprised the actor.
"It's rather amusing at my advanced age (mid-60s) to become a sex symbol," he once said.
Dynasty was always fighting to compete with its great rival, Dallas, which had its own megalomaniac oil baron in JR Ewing.
Forsythe recalled the Dynasty producers initially not knowing "what the hell they wanted" from his character.
He said: "They talked to me in terms of JR in Dallas. I said, 'Look, fellas, I don't want to play JR. Part of my strength as an actor comes from what I've learned all these years: when you play a villain, you try to get the light touches; when you play a hero, you try to get in some of the warts."
