LABUAN: Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Yussof Mahal won the Labuan parliamentary election with a majority of 8,457 votes. In a three-cornered fight, his nearest rival, independent candidate Lau Seng Kiat polled 2,014 votes while PAS candidate Matusin Abdul Rahman lost his deposit after getting only 1,106 votes.
There were 311 spoilt votes. Out of the 20,783 registered voters, 13,902 exercised their voting rights. Voter turnout was 68.08 percent and polling was carried out without any untoward incident.
