Archaic Malaysian Laws

O! Give me a F*****G Break! Aren't there several Archaic Laws in this country?!!! Especially ones pertaining to a person's right to civil liberties, lifestyle, human rights & privacy?!!! A 3rd World Country Indeed!!! Oops! I forgot! It's Religion which is the Passport to Draconianism!

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia's outdated commercial and business laws will be updated this year in a bid spur economic growth. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk V.K. Liew said the law reform committee would study some archaic business and commercial laws that impede business growth and development. "Archaic business laws will soon be history, especially those laws that have not inspired healthy growth and economic prosperity for the country," said Liew, who is Malaysia Law Reform Committee (MLRC) chairman.

He said focus on such laws came following a recommendation made by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at a recent Cabinet meeting in which he called on the reform committee to give top priority to review outdated business-related laws. "The government is of the view that such laws need to be re-studied and updated to ensure that Malaysia becomes more business-friendly and conducive for creating real growth," Liew said. He said the focus of the review would be on updating of commercial laws, development laws and laws that were related to trading and commerce. ''Laws that could create problems to the business affairs in the country will undergo a review for reform," he added.

Liew said that the Government was very concerned about people's views and opinions on laws that hinder business growth and will aim to secure the private sector's input for the reforms.
"Towards this end, the MLRC will review and update such laws and work together with other government agencies, as well as the special task force to facilitate business (PEMUDAH) in carrying out the initiative," he added. Also under study were the laws governing land ownership that has been noted to be problematic and hindrance to business growth. He said the committee would be holding dialogues and discussions with a cross section of business communities for views and suggestions for improved trading, general commerce and other business related activities.
