(Yahoo) - The Grace Kelly hitmaker was due to perform in Lison, Portugal on Friday night but was unable to catch a flight to the country as nearly all air services in Europe have been cancelled because of a heavy cloud of volcanic ash floating in the skies above.

Mika, who is currently in Paris, France, attempted to find a different way to travel to the venue, but his alternative plans were foiled when he discovered strike action on French railways had crippled the country's public transport system.

The show has now been pushed back until May.

In a series of posts on his Twitter page, he writes, "It's been a mess the past few days. After trying practically everything, private planes, trains, buses, and ferries, we were forced to move our Lisbon date tonight to May 11. With our crew in the UK, some performers in Stockholm and the rest of us in Paris, it has been rather hysterical trying to organise travel. There is not only volcanic ash in the air but the French trains went back on STRIKE this morning!!"

But the singer is determined to make it to Barcelona, Spain for the next date of his European tour.

He adds, "I'm renting a bunch of cars and driving to Barcelona where we will do our first night at the Palau San Jordi on Sunday! Ta-Dah!"
